BELTON, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer swept the American Southwest Conference Men's Soccer Players of the Week awards for the week ending Sept. 29
th.
Evan Ruiz was named ASC Offensive Player of the Week while
Yannis Benae was named ASC Defensive Player of the Week.
Evan Ruiz, a sophomore midfielder from Allen, scored a pair of goals for the Cru last week, helping UMHB to two wins. Ruiz opened with the game-winner against Rhodes, scoring the Cru's third goal in the 65
th minute. He followed that with a 59
th minute goal against Howard Payne en route to a 6-0 UMHB win.
Yannis Benae, a sophomore defender from Frisco, played 144 minutes on the Crusader back line. Benae helped the Cru outscore opponents 9-2 on the week, allowing Howard Payne just two total shots in that contest. He also scored the go-ahead goal against Rhodes College.
UMHB returns to action on Thursday, October 2
nd in a 7 p.m. contest at Belhaven University.
