NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's basketball team earned a come-from-behind win over Salisbury in a 64-60 decision Saturday afternoon in Virginia.
The game played back-and-forth until the 7-8 mark when Salisbury used a 7-0 run to take a 13-8 lead.
Zach Engels responded with a three-pointer to cut the gap to two. The game remained in single possession play until Salisbury took a 24-18 lead with 5:31 left in the frame. UMHB tied the game again at 28 with 1:32 to play, holding that score into halftime.
The Seagulls took a second-half lead and held the high ground until the 12:59 mark when
Josiah Wray hit a layup to tie the game at 40. UMHB extended the lead to 13 from there and maintained advantage, cruising to a 64-60 win.
Zach Engels led the Cru with 15 points while
Donta Coady added 11. UMHB totaled 44 rebounds in the matchup, led by Engels with 11. Coady also added a team-high three steals while the Cru totaled 17 assists in the matchup.
UMHB returns to action on Sunday, January 18
th in a 4 p.m. (ET) contest at Christopher Newport University.
