Men’s Basketball names eight to All-ASC teams; Johnson named Player of the Year

BELTON, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Men's Basketball earned eight All-American Southwest Conference distinctions, released Thursday. Hudson Johnson and Elijah Lawrence also took home superlative awards.

Hudson Johnson, a senior from Salado, was named ASC Player of the Year and First Team All-ASC. Johnson led the conference with 515 points, averaging 19.8 points per contest. He was also the conference leader with 69 three-pointers, shooting .388 from beyond the arc this season. He also ranked top five in field goal percentage (.430), free throw percentage (.831) and assists (78). Johnson added 93 rebounds and 28 steals in his senior campaign, recording 14 games with 20+ points.

Elijah Lawrence, a senior from Houston, was named ASC Newcomer of the Year, Second Team All-ASC and ASC All-Defensive Team. Lawrence ranked eighth in the ASC with 12.4 points per game, totaling 336 on the season. He added 81 assists, ranking second in the conference with 107 rebounds and 33 steals.

Zach Engels was also named First Team All-ASC. Engels, a senior from Round Rock, ranked third in the conference with 15.8 points per contest with a season-total of 246. He also ranked among the top three in rebounds (212), rebounds per game (7.9), field goal percentage (.509) and assists per game (2.7). He totaled 74 assists on the season with 12 blocked shots and 41 steals. Engels totaled eight double-doubles this season with five games of 20+ points.

Donta Coady, a senior from Arlington, was named to the All-Defensive Team. Coady totaled 145 rebounds on the season, 99 defensive. He added 18 steals and 18 blocks on the year, scoring 265 total points for the Cru. Coady averaged 23.7 minutes on the floor, playing in 26 games this season.

Jeremiah Parquet, a Spring native, was voted to the All-Freshman Team. Parquet played in four games for the Cru this season, scoring 16 points with five rebounds and one assist.
  
UMHB won the 2026 American Southwest Conference title and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Cru will face Wisconsin-Stevens Point on the campus of Gustavos Adolphus in Saint Peter, Minnesota on Friday, March 6th.
