MARSHALL, Texas — The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team dropped two decisions to East Texas Baptist Friday afternoon. The Cru fell to 18-18 on the season with a 3-5 mark in American Southwest Conference action while the Tigers improved to 31-3 (8-0).
After a scoreless first inning, ETBU broke through with three runs on four hits in the bottom of the second. The Tigers added two more in the fifth, along with one in the sixth, to take a 6-0 lead.
Ryleigh Mills responded for the Cru in the top of the seventh with an RBI single to score
Shorey Nguyen. UMHB was unable to rally back, dropping game one 6-1.
The Tigers plated one run in the bottom of the third to jump out to a 1-0 lead over the Cru. UMHB held ETBU at one run for the remainder of the game, with each team adding one hit, with the Tigers taking the 1-0 win.
Ryleigh Mills added one hit and one RBI on the day, along with
Jordan Iverson and
Ava Jolley, who each tallied a hit.
UMHB returns to action in Brownwood on Friday, April 24th, in a 4:00pm doubleheader against Howard Payne.
