Zach Engels and
Lori Bryan have earned American Southwest Conference Scholar-Athlete Medals of Honor.
Zach Engels, a native of Austin, graduated this spring with a finance degree. He was a First Team All-ASC selection and All-Tournament Team honoree in his senior year with the Cru. Engels is also a multi-year winner of NABC Honors Court and Academic All-ASC. He played four years of basketball at UMHB, totaling more than 850 points scored and 400 rebounds.
Lori Bryan, an Allen native, graduated with a 3.99 grade-point average as a business major. Bryan was a four-time All-ASC selection with a pair of College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selections. Lori played four years on the women's tennis team, collecting conference awards each season. She was also named to the ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete team and has collected more than 35 singles wins and 25 doubles wins.
Both Engels and Bryan led their teams to their respective American Southwest Conference titles and an appearance in the NCAA Postseason. Engels is the second men's basketball player to earn the distinction while Bryan is the third women's tennis athlete.
