KINGSLAND, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team set a new program record for low 36-hole score en route to a win at The Legends Cup Tuesday in Kingsland.
UMHB shot a 292-289=581 (+5) to win the tournament by five strokes. The Cru's 581 broke the previous record of 587 (+11) from the 2023 ASC Preview.
Katie Rhude led the tournament, shooting a 72-68=140 (-4). Rhude's 68 tied the program's record for lowest 18-hole score set by McKenzie Ralston in the 2014-2015 season.
Julia Sosa finished in fourth with a 146 (+2), carding a 72-74 with Claire Smith shooting a 73-73 to meet Sosa in fourth. Camryn Kiser and Sofia Carrasco finished tied for seventh, both shooting a 149 (+5) while Payton Cox finished top ten at 152 (+8). Brooke Kocher (+9) finished 12th while Cierra Bigelow (+14) also competed for the Cru.
Trinity University finished the tournament in second at 586 (+10), followed by Southwestern (+43). Hardin-Simmons (+57) and East Texas Baptist (+57) tied for fourth with Centenary (+74), Concordia Texas (+74), McMurry (+87), Schreiner (+94), Texas Lutheran (+101), Southwestern B (+107) and Millsaps (+108) also competing in the tournament.
UMHB led the tournament in par-3 (+5) and par-4 (+5) scoring. The Cru also topped the leaderboard in birdies (22) and pars (124). Rhude, Smith and Sosa led in par-4 scoring at -1 while Rhude also led with eight birdies. Smith was the tournament leader in pars, scoring 30.
UMHB returns to action in the Tartan Invitational September 28th - 29th in Farmington, Pennsylvania.
