KERRVILLE, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team took a 2-0 win over Schreiner University in Kerrville Saturday night. This win improved the Cru 6-2 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.
The first half was scoreless from both teams. The Cru outshot the Mountaineers 7-0 with three shots on goal.
Billy Yonce put the Cru on the board with a penalty kick goal in the 66
th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Nine minutes later, Yonce found the back of the net again off an assist from
Carter Simpson to extend the Cru's lead 2-0. UMHB outshot the Mountaineers 14-0 in the second half.
Martin Valdes led the Cru with four shots, putting one on frame while Yonce added three shots, all on frame.
Jesus Vasquez and
Eric Ortiz also added three shots each. The Cru tallied 21 shots and nine shots on goal in the contest. UMHB's defense completely shutout the Mountaineers, not allowing Schreiner a single shot.
