BELTON, Texas - The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep against LeTourneau University Friday evening in Belton.

UMHB opened the first set with a back-and-forth battle. The Cru pulled ahead with a four-point run making the score 22-19 before the Yellowjacket responded with back-to-back points tying the score 23-23. The Cru and the Yellowjacket traded kill for kill heading into extra points until the Cru pulled out the 32-30 win.

UMHB came out swinging in the second set taking an immediate 13-6 lead. Amazing defense by the Crusaders stalled the Yellowjacket offense leading to a 25-19 win in the second set.

The third set was a back-and-forth battle before the Cru took the 15-11 lead with a five-point run. The battle continued before the Cru sealed the match with a 25-22 win.

Ava Ribakovs led the Cru with 17 kills while
Lilli Sandoval added 11, and
Sarah Rivich and
Natalie Hughes each added eight.
Chloe Brandt tallied 24 assists while
Ava Ribakovs recorded 21. Angie Garcie was a dominant force on defense leading the Cru with 23 digs while
Chloe Brandt had15 and
Lilli Sandoval had 13.
Natalie Hughes had a block party tallying six blocks.

UMHB returns to action in a pair of Saturday matches at 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
