Biography
Cortney has been a key back-court reserve for the Cru in each of the past two seasons. She will have a chance to claim a starting job at guard this year. 2010-11: Cortney was an Academic All-Conference selection. She started one game and played in 21, averaging 2.5 points and 0.8 rebounds per game. Cortney scored a season-high nine points against Texas Lutheran and pulled down a season-best three rebounds against Macalester. 2009-10: Cortney played in 13 games as a reserve guard. She averaged 1.5 points and 0.6 rebounds per game. Cortney added three assists and three steals. She scored a season-high eight points against Schreiner University and grabbed a season-high three rebounds against Sul Ross State. High School: Cortney was an All-State and Academic All-State basketball player at Academy High School. She was and All-District volleyball player and also lettered in track for the Bees. Personal: Cortney is the daughter of Tammy Cooke and Bobby Poncik. She was born March 7, 1991 and is majoring in computer graphic design at UMHB.
