Biography
Zane is the most experienced player on the Cru roster and will be counted on to be a team leader and one’s of the team’s top offensive threats this season. 2008-09: Zane was an Honorable Mention ASC All-West Division selection and he also earned Academic All-Conference honors. He played in all 27 games and started 11, averaging 7.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. Zane hit 39 per cent from three-point range. He reached double figures in scoring seven times with a season-high 14 points against U.T.-Dallas in the regular season meeting with the Comets. 2007-08: Zane was an Academic All-ASC selection and also earned a spot on the ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete team. He played in all 30 games and started nine. Zane averaged 3.6 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. He added 25 assists and 10 steals. Zane scored a season-high 16 points in the regular-season victory over Hardin-Simmons. 2006-07: Zane started 20 games and played in all 28. He averaged 5.9 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. Zane added 19 assists and 25 steals. he scored a season-high 15 points against McMurry and reached double figures six times. 2005-06: Zane attended Texas A&M-Commerce, where he sat out the season as a redshirt. High School: Zane was an All-State basketball player at Albany High School and he also earned All-District honors as a football player and lettered in track and cross-country. Personal: Zane is the son of Danita and Paul Johnston. He was born May 20, 1986 and is majoring in exercise and sport science.
