Luke Howard returned to the UMHB football program as a full-time assistant coach in June of 2015. He will primarily be responsible for coaching the Cru running backs. Howard returned to his alma mater after spending the 2014-15 school year as an assistant football coach and head golf coach at Cuero High School. Prior to joining Cuero, Howard spent five years as a student and graduate assistant coach at UMHB from 2009-2014. He worked with the Cru receivers for most of his tenure, but also coached quarterbacks and worked with the team's strength and conditioning programs during that time. UMHB posted a 60-6 overall record during his five years on the coaching staff and lost just one regular season game in that time.
Howard graduated from UMHB with a degree in Science and History in May of 2012 and completed his Master's Degree in Sport Administration in May of 2014 at UMHB. His wife, Savanna, is also a UMHB graduate. Howard is a native of Gatesville.
