Cannata joined UMHB as offensive line coach in February 2022. He came to UMHB after a three-year stint at UNC-Charlotte, where he guided the 49ers to their first-ever bowl game appearance in 2019. Cannata also served as offensive graduate assistant at Austin Peay in 2018, where he coached offensive line and tight ends.
Cannata is also familiar with the American Southwest Conference thanks to his two-year stint as an offensive assistant at Texas Lutheran University. Cannata coached the Bulldogs in 2016 and 2017 serving as offensive line coach/run game coordinator as well as recruiting coordinator.
Cannata is a 2013 graduate of Texas Lutheran University, where he started 38 games at center for the Bulldogs. He was also a two-time selection on the ASC All-Academic selection.
