Mary Haridin-Baylor Athletics

Sophia is studying nursing at UMHB. She was a two-time all-district soccer player at Cedar Park High School, where she was also an AP Scholar with Honor. Sophia is the daughter of Hector and Ashley Sanchez.

Sophia chose UMHB because of the opportunity to play the sport she loves and study something she is interested in. She was also attracted to the Christian environment and liked that the university will keep her rooted in her faith. Sophia says she could eat pizza for every meal and die happy. Her pre-game ritual is to receive a cheer from her mom (hand motions included), much to her dismay she adds. Sophia credits her father for having the biggest influence on her as an athlete and credits both her parents as well as her sisters and friends for helping shape her character as a person.
