Sam is studying marketing at UMHB. She participated in volleyball, track and cheer at Pine Tree High School. Sam was a three-time all-district selection, two-time All-East Texas honoree and two-time all-state selection. Sam was also voted MVP of her team her junior and senior seasons and earned District MVP. Sam was a three-time academic all-district honoree and graduated in the top ten percent of her class. She also participated in National Honor Society and was the editor of the yearbook. Sam is the daughter of Kent and Vanessa Sommerfeld.
