Biography
Sara is a two-year starter for the Cru and she is a talented and experienced player. She will be limited early in the season by an injury, but will be counted to provide blocking and hitting strength on the front row as soon as she is healthy. Sara was an Academic All-ASC selection last year after recording 137 kills and a team-best 94 total blocks. She also added 31 digs, two service aces and four assists during the year. Sara finished with 108 kills and a .105 hitting percentage and added a team-high 51 total blocks as a freshman. Sara also chipped in with 13 digs and four assists as a freshman. She also serves as the President of the UMHB Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Sara was an All-District volleyball player at Nacogdoches High School and she also earned Team MVP honors. She also lettered in track. Sara is the daughter of Laura and Tim Hayward. Sara is majoring in exercise and sport science at UMHB.
