Box Score Jackson, MS – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team won the opening set but could not keep the momentum going in a 3-1 loss to Millsaps College in the regular season finale Saturday afternoon in Jackson, Mississippi. UMHB finishes the regular season with a 20-9 record and matches its highest single-season victory total since moving to NCAA Division III in 1998.
UMHB won the opening set, but the dropped three straight to fall 22-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-15 to the Majors.
Kimberly Smidovec had a team-high 13 kills.
Morgan Baker added 10 kills and a team-high 30 digs.
Anissa Garcia had 38 assists and 19 digs for UMHB and
Jasmine Austin added 17 digs for the Cru.
UMHB will now advance to the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament for the first time since 2007. The Cru is the #2 seed from the ASC East Division and will open the tournament against Texas Lutheran, the #3 seed from the ASC West Division in a first-round match next Thursday. The ASC Tournament will be hosted by U.T.-Dallas in Richardson next Thursday through Saturday.
