Tyler, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team held to win the opening set and then cruised through the next two as the Cru rolled to a 25-21, 25-12, 25-12 win over Concordia Texas Friday afternoon in Tyler. The win comes in the American Southwest Conference Dig Pink Crossover Challenge. UMHB improves to 13-3 overall and 8-1 in ASC play with the victory. The Cru has now won nine in a row and needs just one more victory to match its highest single-season win total since claiming the ASC title in 1998. Concordia falls to 9-8 overall and 5-5 in the ASC with the loss.
Sophia Alexiou led UMHB with nine kills and
Kimberly Smidovec and
Kaydie Cochran added eight kills apiece.
Morgan Baker led the Cru with 17 digs and
Jasmine Austin added 16 more.
Anissa Garcia had 15 digs to go with a team-best 33 assists. Garcia also had three service aces and UMHB hit .280 as a team in the win.
The Cru will return to action with a 7:30 PM match against Howard Payne University tonight. UMHB will then close out the tournament with matches against McMurry University and Hardin-Simmons University tomorrow.
