Volleyball edged by McMurry 3-2

Tyler, TX — The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team stormed back from a 2-0 deficit only to send the comeback fall just short in a 3-2 loss to McMurry University Saturday morning in Tyler. The loss comes in the American Southwest Conference Dig Pink Crossover Challenge and snaps UMHB's ten-match winning streak. The Cru drops to 14-4 overall and 9-2 in ASC play on the season with the loss.
 
UMHB dropped the first two sets, fought back to win the next two and then was edged in the fifth set in a 25-21, 25-16, 27-29, 21-25, 15-12 loss. Kaydie Cochran led UMHB with 20 kills and Tina Miller added 16 more. Sophia Alexiou had 13 kills and Kimberly Smidovec chipped in 11 for the Cru. Jasmine Austin had 27 digs, Morgan Baker added 16 and Cochran and Nicolette Wiesman both totaled 11. Anissa Garcia had 65 assists and 13 digs for the Cru. UMHB hit .227 in the match and gave up six service errors and six McMurry service aces.
 
UMHB will close out the tournament with a 3:00 PM match against Hardin-Simmons University this afternoon. The Cru will then play road matches at U.T.-Tyler, Mississippi College and Centenary College next weekend.
