Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team posted a pair of seventh-inning comebacks, falling just short in game one, but taking game two in dramatic fashion as the Cru held on for a doubleheader split with Concordia Texas Friday afternoon in Belton. UMHB dropped game one 5-3 but fought back for a 3-2 victory in game two.

The Cru fell behind late, but used a three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh for a 3-2 win in game two. UMHB's Ariel Kemmerer and Concordia's Teylor Schiefelbein were locked up in a scoreless duel in the top of the sixth inning before the Tornados finally broke through. Jessica Rattan's two-run homer to left-center gave CTX a 2-0 lead. It would stay that way into the bottom of the seventh. Megan Bohne led off with a solo home run for the Cru to cut the lead to 2-1. Hannah White followed with a double off the wall down the right-field line. After a foul out, Jordan Schrutka's infield single put runners on first and third. Pinch-runner Austin McCormick stole second to put runners on second and third. Jordan Giesen grounded out for the second out, but pinch-hitter Kirstie Curry blooped a 2-2 offering into shallow right-center for the game-winning, two-run single. Kemmerer earned the win with a four-hitter to move to 8-5 on the season. Schiefelbein took the loss to drop to 12-7 after giving up nine hits and three runs. Kaysie Creech had three of the Cru's nine hits in the game.

UMHB's seventh-inning rally fell just short in a 5-3 game one loss. The Cru took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third on a run-scoring error and White's RBI single. Concordia answered with five runs on five hits in the top of the fourth to take a 5-2 lead. UMHB would then load the bases with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Caitlin Bollier singled home a run to cut it to 5-3, but a strikeout ended the threat and the game with the tying run at second base. Erica White took the loss to drop to 16-2 on the season. She gave up nine hits and five runs in six innings of work. Kat Moreno earned the win for Concordia to move to 10-9 on the year. She scattered seven hits and allowed just one earned run. Bollier had two of the Cru's seven hits and Lauren Vansickle had three of CTX's ten hits in the game.

The Cru finishes the regular season with a 28-12 overall record and UMHB won its fourth American Southwest Conference West Division title in the last five years after going 21-3 in conference play. Concordia Texas finishes the regular season with a 24-16 overall mark and a 15-9 record in ASC West Division play. Both teams will advance to the ASC Championship Tournament next weekend in Lewisville. UMHB will be the #1 seed from the ASC West Division and gets an opening round bye. Concordia will be either the #2 or #3 seed from the West Division.
