Abilene, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team bounced back from two touch losses on Friday with a solid performance in a 3-0 victory over Howard Payne University Saturday afternoon in Abilene. UMHB improves to 22-5 overall and 11-3 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The Cru also ties the Division III era single-season school record for victories with win #22, matching the mark set last season.
The Cru won the opening set and never looked back on the way to a 25-20, 25-21, 26-24 victory over the Yellow Jackets. UMHB hit .356 as a team and posted six service aces and six team blocks in the win.
Lauren Powell and
Sarah Toler led the Cru with nine kills apiece. Powell also added a team-high 17 digs.
Kendall Pye recorded 24 assists and
Kendra Feldmann (14) and
Abby Voskuil (11) also reached double figures in digs for UMHB.
The Cru will now return home to close out conference play with four league matches next weekend. UMHB will host seven other conference school with a total of six matches taking place at the Mayborn Campus Center on Friday and Saturday.
