Volleyball beats Schreiner 3-0

Georgetown, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team dominated the final two sets as the Cru rolled to a 26-24, 25-12, 25-10 victory over Schreiner University Friday evening in Georgetown. UMHB improves to 27-5 on the season with the win and extends the school's single-season record for victories in the process. The loss drops the Mountaineers to 9-17 on the year.

The Cru jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first set, but had to battle back from a 23-20 deficit to win the set. UMHB would win nine of the final 12 points to take the second set. The Cru would then close out the third set and the match with an 18-4 run for the win.

Bianca Patterson led the Cru with 10 kills and she hit .600 in the match. Lauren Powell added nine kills. Powell also added a team-high 19 digs, while Kendra Feldmann posted 17 and Kendall Pye chipped in 14 more. Pye also had a team-high 17 assists while Shelby Prather recorded 10 assists. UMHB hit .263 as a team, recorded seven service aces and posted 5.0 team blocks in the win. Patterson earned Schlotzsky's Lotz Better Player of the Game honors.

The Cru will close out the regular season with a 6:00 PM match against regionally ranked Southwestern University tomorrow in Georgetown. UMHB has already qualified for the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament. The Cru will be the #2 seed in that tournament next week in Richardson.
