Volleyball defeats Southwestern 3-1

Georgetown, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's volleyball team defeated Southwestern University 3-1 Saturday evening in Georgetown. The win improves the Cru to 28-5 on the season while the Pirates fall to 24-10.

Southwestern grabbed an early 27-25 first-set win before UMHB rallied to take the next three sets 25-22, 25-22, 25-18. Lauren Powell led the Cru with 16 kills while Katrina Kastmo added 15. Shelby Prather and Kendall Pye split time at the setter position, each recording 27 assists. Defensively, Powell led the Cru with 25 digs while Kendra Feldmann added 22. Feldmann also led the Cru with two service aces. UMHB recorded 21 team blocks, led by Bianca Patterson's six and Kastmo's five. The Cru totaled 58 kills in the match for a .173 hitting percentage.

UMHB returns to action in the American Southwest Conference tournament Nov. 7th on the campus of the University of Texas at Dallas. As the No. 2 seed, the Cru will face the winner of Concordia University and East Texas Baptist University Thursday, Nov. 7th at 5 p.m.
