Volleyball beats ETBU 3-1 to advance in ASC Championship Tournament

Richardson, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team earned a 3-1 victory over East Texas Baptist University Thursday evening in Richardson. The win improves the Cru to 29-5 on the season while the Tigers fall to 28-9.

No. 3 ETBU grabbed a 25-19 first-set win, but the Cru responded with a come-from-behind 26-24 second-set victory to tie the match at one. The Cru took the next two sets 25-14, 25-23 to earn the 3-1 match victory. Lauren Powell led the Cru with 17 kills while Kendall Pye and Bianca Patterson each added 12. Shelby Prather assisted 27 kills while Pye added 24 assists. Defensively, UMHB recorded a team-total 73 digs led by Kendra Feldmann's 28. Patterson led the Cru to 13 team blocks with two block solos and five block assists. UMHB totaled 59 kills for a .210 hitting percentage.

UMHB is now 4-5 all-time in the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament and will advance in the winner's bracket to face the winner of No. 1 tournament-host Texas-Dallas and No. 4 Hardin-Simmons at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8th. The winner of that match will advance to the championship match scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 9th at 3 p.m.
