Women's basketball routs Louisiana College 99-85

Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball team grabbed a 99-85 victory over Louisiana College Thursday evening in Belton. The win improves the Cru to 11-7 on the season and 11-4 in American Southwest Conference action while the Wildcats fall to 11-6 overall and 9-5 in conference play.


UMHB shot 62 percent in the first half of play and did not trail, grabbing an early 16-8 lead on the Wildcats. UMHB led by as many as 16 points in the first half. Louisiana College was able to tie the game three times but UMHB entered halftime with a 53-39 advantage. Louisiana College cut UMHB's lead to five early in the first half but were unable to catch the Cru.
 
Taylor Tucker led five players in double-digits for the Cru with 26 points, followed by Macy Moore with 24, Alyssa Dean with 14, Jovana Miles with 11 and Jonelle Smith with 10. Tucker also led the Cru with 14 rebounds, followed by Bridjai Chaney's 13 and Miles' 11. UMHB out-rebounded the Wildcats 64-34 in the match. UMHB shot 57 percent in the contest and 29 percent from beyond the arc. The Cru totaled 22 assists, five blocks and three steals.
 
Baylie Butler led five players in double-digits for Louisiana College with 16 points. Kaci Willis added 15, Karli West put up 13 and Keana Frank and Natosha Morvant each added 11. Willis also brought down a team-high 11 rebounds. The Wildcats were shot 33 percent in the contest and 70 percent from the free throw line, totaling 17 assists, forcing 27 turnovers and adding 15 steals.
 
The Cru will return to action Saturday in a 1 p.m. contest against Mississippi College at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
