Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's basketball seized an 87-78 victory over LeTourneau University Thursday evening in Belton for the team's fourth consecutive victory. The Cru improves to 13-7 on the season and 13-4 in American Southwest Conference action while the YellowJackets move to 7-12 overall and 5-11 in conference play.

UMHB grabbed an early 11-6 lead before LeTourneau tied the game at 22 with just over six minutes left in the first half. The Cru ended the half on a 14-5 run to gain a 43-33 halftime advantage. UMHB opened the second half with an 8-2 run to extend the lead to 16. The YellowJackets were able to cut the Cru's lead to nine late in the second half, but UMHB held on using a 5-2 run in the final minute to secure the victory.

Alyssa Dean led three player in double-digits for UMHB with 24 points. Macy Moore added 15 to the scoreboard while Jovana Miles put up 14. Miles was also the leading rebounder with 11 while Bridjai Chaney added 10. UMHB totaled 13 assists, 10 steals and out-rebounded the YellowJackets 55-36 in the contest. The Cru shot 38 percent in the game and 29 percent from beyond the arc.

Rebecca Stewart was the leading scorer for LeTourneau with 18 points, followed by Ashley Fajardo's 12. Alexis Wighaman and Alexandra Burroughs each added 10 points. Wighaman was the team's leading rebounder with seven, followed by Stewart and Meagan Peters with five each. The YellowJackets totaled 17 assists, eight blocks and eight steals. LeTourneau shot 44 percent in the contest and 75 percent from the free throw line.
 
UMHB will return to action in the program's annual Pink Zone game Saturday in a 1 p.m. match against East Texas Baptist University. A donation box will be set up at the game with proceeds going to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
