Belton, TX – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor continued its three-game sweep of Louisiana College Saturday with a 4-3 victory over the Wildcats. The win improved the Cru to 22-12 on the season and 17-10 in American Southwest Conference action while the Wildcats fell to 20-8 overall and 20-7 in conference play.
Louisiana College used a strong second inning to gain a 3-0 advantage early.
Leah Brown drove in a run in the bottom of the third, scoring
Leanne Hinojosa from third base to cut Louisiana College's lead to two.
Kourtney Bevers drove in
Dayton Kunz in the bottom of the fourth before
Chandler Henson hit an RBI double to score
Kelsey Vann from first and even the game at 3-3.
Janie Neyland used an RBI single to drive in
Amelia Cluke, securing the Cru's one-run victory. Kunz and
Leanne Hinojosa led the Cru with two hits while four Crusaders recorded RBI.
Rebekah Ragsdale earned the win in the circle, allowing six hits and striking out two batters. UMHB totaled four runs on eight hits while the Wildcats had three runs on six hits with two errors.
The UMHB softball team will return to action Thursday, April 17
th in a 2 p.m. doubleheader against Sul Ross State in Alpine. The Cru will play the third game of the series Friday, April 18
th at noon.
