Game NotesBelton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team will look for improved performance as the Cru returns home to host Kean University this Saturday at Crusader Stadium. The game will kick off at 6:00 PM and will likely be the final regular season meeting between the two teams.
The Cru comes into Saturday's game with a 3-0 record and UMHB is ranked second in the country by both the American Football Coaches Association and D3football.com. Kean University is 0-2 on the year and has also lost both previous meetings with the Cru by identical 34-7 scores. But coming off a 41-22 victory at Wisconsin-La Crosse last Saturday, the UMHB players and coaches both feel like there is plenty of improvement that needs to come before the Cru opens American Southwest Conference play in two weeks.
"You have to address the mistakes that we have been making, despite us sitting here at 3-0," Cru Head Coach
Pete Fredenburg said. "We have some work to do and we have got to get better. We are expecting better results and are not satisfied. Our players are not satisfied either, they know what the expectations are around here and want to get better each week."
The Cru coaching staff will participate in the AFCA's Coach To Cure MD campaign during this weekend's game. The campaign seeks to raise awareness and funds in the fight against Muscular Dystrophy. You can make a donation by visiting organization's web site at
www.CoachToCureMD.org or by texting CURE to 90999.
UMHB will also be hosting Family Weekend and its first middle school night at Saturday's game. Nearly 1,000 middle school students from across Central Texas are expected to attend the game.
