ABILENE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team routed McMurry University 9-0 Saturday evening in Abilene, improving to 7-3-1 on the season while the War Hawks fell to 2-7-2 overall.
Miranda Aleman scored the game-winning goal in the 8
th minute off an
Allison Porter assist for a 1-0 lead. Porter quickly added an insurance goal in the 9
th minute off an assist from
Sarah Rempe for a 2-0 advantage. Rempe was next, finding the back of the net off an assist from
Allison Porter for a 3-0 lead.
Amanda Carlough and Aleman struck next, scoring within 38 seconds of each other for a 5-0 Cru lead. UMHB held that lead until the 56
th minute when
Nicole Burgett scored off another Porter assist.
Briana Hester was next, scoring in the 73
rd minute before Aleman added one and
Elissa Freberg added two for the 9-0 UMHB win.
UMHB recorded a team-total 27 shots, led by Burgett with five. Aleman and Freberg led the Cru with two goals each while five other Crusaders scored. Porter was the team-leader in assists with three.
Courtney Craig and
Alexandria Andrade teamed up in the net, but the UMHB defense did not allow a single shot in the contest. UMHB totaled 27 shots with 17 on goal as McMurry's Simone Heinle made eight saves.
The Cru continues play Saturday, October 17
th in a 1 p.m. match against Sul Ross State University at the Cru Sports Plex in Belton.
