LONGVIEW, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team earned a 2-0 win over LeTourneau University Saturday afternoon in Longview. The win improved the Cru to 10-3-1 on the season and 7-1 in American Southwest Conference action while the YellowJackets fell to 7-6-1 on the year and 4-3-1 in league play.
Jessie Simmonds scored the game-winning goal in the 30
th minute off an assist from
Elissa Freberg for a 1-0 advantage. UMHB held that lead until the 60
th minute when
Allison Porter scored an insurance goal off an assist from
Kathryn Parker for a 2-0 game advantage.
Freberg, Porter, Simmonds and
Briana Hester all led the Cru with two shots as UMHB outshot the YellowJackets 10-7 in the match. The Cru put six shots on goal to the YellowJackets' five and took 1 corner kick in the match. UMHB's
Courtney Craig earned the win in the net, making five saves in the shutout win while LeTourneau's Brittany Hollis took the loss, allowing two goals with four saves.
UMHB closes out the regular season next weekend with a home series against the University of Texas at Tyler and University of the Ozarks. The Cru opens the weekend in a 1 p.m. game on Friday, October 30
th against the U.T.-Tyler Patriots.
