ABILENE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team fell 3-0 to Hardin-Simmons University Tuesday afternoon in Abilene. The loss dropped the Cru to 6-3-1 on the season and 4-1-0 in American Southwest Conference action while the Cowgirls improved to 9-2-1- overall and 5-1-0 in conference play.
Kenne Kessler gave Hardin-Simmons an early advantage, scoring in the seventh minute off a Kami Jones assist. Kessler again helped the Cowgirls' offense in the 29
th minute, assisting Jordan Lara for a 2-0 HSU lead. Jones was the final Cowgirl to score, assisted by Lara in the 46
th minute for the 3-0 advantage.
Kathryn Parker recorded a team-high three shots while
Nicole Burgett,
Briana Hester and
Sarah Kopp each added one.
Courtney Craig took the loss in the net for the Cru, allowing three goals and making eight saves in 61 minutes of play.
Alexandria Andrade finished the contest for the Cru, making two saves in 29 minutes in the net. Hardin-Simmons outshot the Cru 21-6 in the match and took six corner kicks to the Cru's one.
UMHB returns to play Saturday, October 10
th in a 5 p.m. match at McMurry University in Abilene.
