Photo GalleryBELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team edged University of the Ozarks 1-0 Tuesday evening in Belton, advancing the Cru to the semifinal round of the 2015 American Southwest Conference Women's Soccer Championship Tournament. UMHB improved to 12-3-1 on the season while Ozarks ended their season at 5-11-2.
The match remained scoreless until the 82
nd minute when
Kathryn Parker scored the go-ahead goal off an assist from
Caitlin Parr for a 1-0 UMHB advantage. Ozarks presented a strong offensive surge late, but was unable to score the equalizer giving UMHB the 1-0 victory.
Parker led the Cru with eight shots while
Danielle Struxness had three and
Briana Hester added two. UMHB outshot the Eagles 19-2 in the match, putting nine shots on goal.
Courtney Craig earned the win in the net for the Cru, making two saves in the shutout win. Megan Bradford took the loss for the Eagles, making eight saves with one goal allowed.
UMHB advances to the semifinal round of the ASC Championship Tournament, hosted by Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene. UMHB will face Hardin-Simmons on Friday, November 6
th at 2 p.m. The winner of that match will advance to the title game on Sunday, November 8
th at 1 p.m.
