Men's Soccer edged by U.T.-Tyler in ASC Semifinals

TYLER, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team was edged 1-0 by the University of Texas at Tyler on Saturday afternoon in Tyler. The win moves the Patriots to the 2015 American Southwest Conference Men's Soccer Championship match while the Cru ends its season at 8-5-3.
 
The match remained scoreless until the 70th minute when Jorge Delagado scored for a 1-0 Patriot lead. UMHB was unable to generate a scoring offense, falling 1-0 to U.T.-Tyler. UMHB totaled 19 shots in the match, led by Logan Keeler with six. The Patriots recorded a team-total six shots, led by Leandro Fernandez with two. Javier Zaragoza took the loss in the goal for the Cru, making two saves and allowing one goal while John McGuffin earned the win for U.T.-Tyler, making five saves.
 
UMHB advanced to the semifinal round of the ASC tournament for the second consecutive year  and earned eight wins on the season. The Cru graduates three seniors, midfielder Ben Hammonds, midfielder Colby Case and defender Jorge Marquez.
 
U.T.-Tyler advances and will face the winner of Concordia Texas and U.T.-Dallas in the championship match on Sunday, November 8th at 1 p.m. The winner of that match will receive the league's automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Division III National Championships with the bracket to be announced on Monday, November 9th at 12:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
