PINEVILLE, La. – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team beat Louisiana College 3-1 Saturday afternoon in Pineville to improve to 2-0 in American Southwest Conference action. The win moved the Cru to 3-1-1 overall while the Wildcats fell to 3-4 overall.
Briana Hester scored first for the Cru, finishing off an unassisted goal in the ninth minute for a 1-0 lead.
Caitlin Parr scored next, giving UMHB a 2-0 advantage in the 44
th minute with an assist from
Madison Link. UMHB held that lead until the 66
th minute when
Kathryn Parker scored off an assist from
Amanda Carlough for a 3-0 lead before the Wildcats added one in the 74
th minute to cut the Cru's lead to two goals. UMHB held on to the 3-1 lead and secured their second consecutive win on the road.
Parker and
Rachel Dozier led the Cru with four shots while
Sarah Rempe and Parr each added three. UMHB totaled 11 shots in the contest while limiting the Wildcats to just four.
Morgan Prentice earned the win in the goal for the Cru, allowing one goal and making one save. The Cru took three corner kicks to Louisiana College's one and did not allow a shot in the first half.
UMHB returns to action Tuesday in a 7 p.m. match at Trinity University in San Antonio.
