Box Score 2 BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team went 2-0 at the opening day of the American Southwest Conference Crossover, beating LeTourneau University and East Texas Baptist. The Cru improved to 6-6 on the season and 2-1 in ASC play with the wins.
UMHB opened the day with a three-set sweep over LeTourneau University, beating the YellowJackets 3-0. UMHB used an 11-2 run to secure the first set 25-16, then went on a 10-4 run to secure the second set 25-15. The third set proved more of a challenge before the Cru used a 6-3 run to secure the 25-18 third-set victory and the win.
Cheyenne Dowdey led the Cru with 10 kills while
Natasha Evans added nine.
Shelby Prather helped the Cru to a .277 hitting percentage in the match with 23 assists while Evans and
Shelby Russell each added eight. Defensively, Prather led the Cru with 15 digs while Evans and Russell each added 10.Dowdey led the defensive effort at the line with six blocks while
Maddie Frerich added four. UMHB totaled 40 kills on 101 total attacks with 12 errors while the YellowJackets had 26 kills on 108 total attacks with 22 errors.
ETBU took the first set 25-14 in the Cru's second match of the day. The second set remained close until the Cru used a 5-0 run to gain advantage over the Tigers. UMHB won the second set 25-21 then won the next two 25-18, 25-18 to win the match 3-1. Evans led the Cru with 17 kills while
Abby Voskuil had 11 and Frerich added nine. Prather again led the Cru with 42 assists while Evans added seven. Defensively, Prather led with 14 digs while Evans added 12 and Russell and Voskuil each put up 12. Dowdey had another strong performance at the net, recording two solo blocks and seven block assists. UMHB totaled 52 kills on 132 total attacks with 15 errors.

th in a 3 p.m. match against No. 24 U.T.-Dallas at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
