BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team routed McMurry University 7-0 Friday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 8-2-1 on the season and 4-0 in American Southwest Conference action while the War Hawks fell to 1-10 overall and 1-5 in league action.
Kat Parker gave the Cru an early lead two minutes into play when
Chelsea Graham found Parker off a cross for the 1-0 lead. The Cru held that until two minutes remaining in the half when
Caitlyn Shaughnessy finished a ricocheted shot by
Jessie Simmonds to put the Cru up 2-0 at the half.
Briana Hester scored two minutes into the second half to put the Cru up 3-0, followed by Parker's second notch for a 4-0 UMHB lead. Shaughnessy followed that with back-to-back goals in the 72
nd and 84
th minute, completing her first hat trick of her collegiate career.
Megan Register was the final Crusader to score, finding the back of the net with two minutes left in regulation to secure the 7-0 win.
Shaughnessy led the Cru with three goals followed by Parker with two.
Chelsea Graham had a team-high two assists with Simmonds,
Miranda Aleman and
Allison Porter each adding one. Hester and Parker led the Cru with five shots each as UMHB totaled 35 in the match.
Courtney Craig earned the win in the net for the Cru while Jordyn Gregory took the loss for the War Hawks. Gregory allowed six goals with 11 saves in the match.
