BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer scored in the final minute of play to open the season with a win and beat Millsaps 1-0 Thursday evening in Belton. The win opened the Cru at 1-0 while the Majors open at 0-1.
The game remained scoreless until the final 56 seconds of play when
Caleb Latson found the back of the net for the Cru off an assist from
Caleb Almanza, giving UMHB a 1-0 lead and win. Latson,
Caleb Vandergriff,
McKenna Cook and
Mackenson Bonnell each led the Cru with two shots as UMHB outshot the Majors 14-8 in the contest.
Javier Zaragoza earned the win in the goal for the Cru, making four saves in the shutout win. Jonathan Huebbe took the loss for the Majors, making three saves with one goal allowed.
The Cru returns to action Saturday, September 3
rd in a 7 p.m. match against Southwestern University at the Cru Sports Plex in Belton.
