BROWNWOOD, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team beat Howard Payne University 5-0 Thursday afternoon in Brownwood. The win improved the Cru to 5-2-1 overall and 2-0-0 in American Southwest Conference action while the Yellow Jackets fell to 2-5-0 on the season and 0-2-0 in league play.
Chelsea Graham opened the game with a goal 1:26 into play, scoring off an assist from Kat Parker for a 1-0 UMHB lead. Graham added another goal in the 13
th minute off an assist from
Madison Link giving UMHB a two-goal advantage at halftime.
Allison Porter opened the second half with a goal, converting a penalty kick in the 48
th minute for a 3-0 UMHB lead. Parker and Graham would team up again with a goal from Parker and assist from Graham in the 62
nd minute.
Nicole Burgett scored the final goal of the contest, converting a penalty kick in the 76
th minute to complete UMHB's 5-0 win.
Parker led the Cru with six shots followed by
Briana Hester and
Elissa Freberg with four each. UMHB outshot the Yellow Jackets 28-3 in the contest, putting 15 shots on goal.
Courtney Craig played 72 minutes in goal for UMHB, making one save while
Cassidi Musser finished the contest for the Cru with 18 minutes of play. Nicole Goodwin made nine saves with five goals allowed as the Yellow Jacket goalkeeper.
UMHB continues play on Saturday, September 24
th in a 5 p.m. match at the University of Texas at Dallas.
