BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team beat Austin College 2-0 Tuesday evening in Belton. The win improved UMHB to 2-1 on the season while the Roos fell to 0-2.
Nicole Burgett scored the game-winning goal in the 40
th minute off an assist from
Amanda Carlough for a 1-0 UMHB lead. The Cru held that lead until three seconds remaining in the first half when
Taylor Marques scored her first collegiate goal to put the Cru up 2-0. Neither team was able to score in the second half, ending the match at 2-0.
Chelsea Graham led the Cru with five shots followed by
Elissa Freberg with four. UMHB totaled 23 shots with 15 on goal while the Roos had five shots in the game.
Cassidi Musser and
Alexandria Andrade split time in goal for the Cru while Laura McGee played all 90 minutes for Austin College. McGee made 13 saves with two goals allowed.
The Cru returns to action Saturday, September 10
th in a 7 p.m. match against Pacific University at the Cru Sports Plex in Belton.
