SHERMAN, Texas– The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team routed Austin College 7-0 Tuesday evening in Sherman. The win improved the Cru to 11-1-1 while the Roos fell to 3-11.
Caitlyn Shaughnessy gave the Cru a 2-0 halftime lead with a pair of goals in the first half. She opened scoring, chipping a throw into the top right corner in the ninth minute before chipping her second goal off an assist from Jackie Witt in the 24th minute. Sarah Rempe opened the second half scoring off an assist from Shaughnessy before assisting Taylor Marques's goal in the 57th minute. Rempe scored another goal 27 seconds after Marques for a 5-0 UMHB lead. Chelsea Graham and Brooke Tatsch closed scoring for the Cru, recording goals in the 63rd and 80th minute.
Shaughnessy and Rempe led the Cru with two goals each. Bailey Aleman, Elissa Freberg, Brooke Neas, Rempe, Shaughnessy and Witt each added an assist. UMHB outshot the Roos 29-9, putting 14 shots on goal. Emmy McMaude earned the win for the Cru, playing 57 minutes in the net. Michaela Register played in relief, making four saves in 33 minutes of action. Maya Erwin took the loss for Austin College, allowing seven goals allowed with six saves.
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, October 14th in a 5 p.m. match against Concordia University Texas.
