ROUND ROCK, Texas– The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team beat Concordia University Texas 6-1 Saturday evening in Round Rock. The win improved the Cru to 12-1-1 on the season and 8-0-1 in American Southwest Conference action. The Tornados fell to 8-6 overall and 4-5 in league play.
UMHB scored three unanswered goals in the first half to gain advantage on the Tornados.
Caitlyn Shaughnessy opened scoring in the 10
th minute off an assist from
Chelsea Graham. Graham assisted a
Sarah Rempe goal in the 14
th minute before Rempe assisted
Elissa Freberg for the Cru's third goal in the 34
th minute. Concordia was the first team to score after halftime when Brissa Renteria crossed in a ball to Pamela Lasprilla, who headed it into the goal tor the Tornados. UMHB responded with two unassisted goals from Graham in the 64
th and 86
th minute and a goal by
Brooke Tatsch in the 78
th minute.
Graham led the Cru with two goals and two assists while Rempe and Shaughnessy each had one goal and one assist. UMHB outshot the Tornados 19-12 in the contest, putting 12 shots on goal.
Emmy McMaude earned the win in the net for UMHB, making eight saves with one goal allowed. Shelby Franco took the loss for the Tornados, making six saves and allowing six goals. UMHB took four corner kicks to Concordia's one and made six second-half saves.
UMHB returns to action on Thursday, October 19
th in a 5 p.m. match at McMurry University in Abilene.
