Volleyball sweeps McMurry

ABILENE, Texas– The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team swept McMurry University 3-0 Tuesday evening in Abilene. The win improved the Cru to 18-2 overall and 10-1 in American Southwest Conference action while the War Hawks fell to 12-7 overall and 45 in league play.

UMHB took the War Hawks in 25-23, 25-22, 27-25. Corinne Novak and Sarah Paolini led the Cru with 15 kills each while Miranda Klein and Maddie Frerich each added nine. UMHB totaled 54 kills on 150 attacks for a .213 hitting percentage. Natasha Evans anchored UMHB's offense with 41 assists. Defensively, Haleigh Evans added 20 digs while Novak had 19. Maddie Frerich led UMHB's defense at the net, recording five blocks. UMHB ended the match with 46 assists, 60 digs and seven blocks.

Jasmine Jones led the War Hawks with nine kills while Jordyn Burnell added seven. McMurry totaled 37 kills on 131 attacks for a .145 hitting percentage, adding 35 assists, 27 blocks and 66 digs.

UMHB returns to action at the ASC Crossover II next weekend in Abilene. The Cru opens play on Friday, October 13th in a 12:30 p.m. match against Belhaven University
