ABILENE, Texas– The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team earned a 3-1 win over the University of Texas at Tyler Saturday afternoon in Abilene. The win improved the Cru to 21-2 on the season and 13-1 in American Southwest Conference action while the Patriots fell to 17-6 overall and 10-4 in league play.
UMHB and UT Tyler split the first two sets with identical 25-19 scores. The Cru then took the final two sets 25-18 to win the match 3-1.
Sarah Paolini led the Cru with 15 kills followed by
Corinne Novak with 11 and
Maddie Frerich with 10.
Natasha Evans recorded a match-high 41 assists as UMHB hit .244. Defensively,
Haleigh Evans recorded 26 assists followed by
Natasha Evans with 16 and
Madison Welch with 13. Frerich was the Cru's leading blocker, recording three solo blocks and six block assists. UMHB totaled 55 kills on 160 attacks with seven service aces, 77 digs and 13 team blocks. The Patriots were limited to 50 kills on 165 attacks, totaling 79 digs and six team blocks.
UMHB returns to action in its final home game of the season with a 6 p.m. match against Concordia University Texas on Tuesday, October 17
th in the Mayborn Campus Center.
