AUSTIN, Texas– The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team earned a 3-1 win over Concordia University Texas Friday evening in Austin. The win improved the Cru to 23-2 on the season and 15-1 in American Southwest Conference action while the Tornados moved to 13-10 overall and 10-5 in league play.
UMHB won the first set 25-17 before dropping the second 18-25. UMHB took the final two sets 25-21, 25-15 to earn the 3-1 win.
Madison Welch led the Cru with 13 kills, followed by
Miranda Klein with 12 and
Corinne Novak with 10.
Natasha Evans recorded a match-high 38 assists as UMHB hit .252 in the contest. Defensively,
Haleigh Evans led with 22 digs followed by
Natasha Evans with 13.
Maddie Frerich led UMHB's defensive efforts at the net, recording two solo blocks and three block assists. UMHB totaled 52 kills on 119 attacks, adding 62 digs and nine blocks. Concordia Texas totaled 42 kills on 135 attacks for a .141 average, adding 40 digs, seven team blocks and seven aces.
UMHB returns to action on Friday, October 27th in a 3:30 p.m. match against Texas Lutheran University on the campus of Trinity University in San Antonio.
