BELTON, Texas– The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team edged the University of Texas at Dallas 2-1 in a double overtime match Saturday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 10-1-1 on the season and 7-0-1 in American Southwest Conference action. The Comets fell to 10-2 overall and 6-1 in league play.
Chelsea Graham gave UMHB a lead in the 29
th minute, scoring off an assist from
Madison Link for a 1-0 advantage. UMHB held that lead until the 82
nd minute when Melissa Fulfer scored off an assist from Keely Fillman, knotting the contest at 1-1. From there, the contest went into overtime with neither team able to score in the first overtime period.
Caitlyn Shaughnessy secured the win for the Cru in the 108
th minute, hitting in a goal off a pass from
Elissa Freberg for the 2-1 win.
Sarah Rempe led the Cru with five shots while
Chelsea Graham added four. UMHB outshot the Comets 18-8 in the contest, putting seven shots on goal. UMHB's defense limited the Comets to just one shot in overtime and did not allow a shot in the second overtime period.
Emmy McMaude earned the win for the Cru, making three saves with one goal allowed. Monica Dallacasa took the loss for the Comets, allowing two goals and making five saves.
UMHB returns to action on Tuesday, October 10
th in a 6 p.m. match at Austin College in Sherman.
