2017 Roster
BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team will open their 2017 campaign on Friday, September 1
st in the UMHB 2017 Invitational at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
UMHB was picked to win the West Division for the third consecutive season in the American Southwest Conference's Preseason Poll. UMHB went 20-11 last season with an 11-3 mark in conference play. The Cru advanced to the ASC Volleyball Tournament Championship Match for the third consecutive season under head coach
Rob Frost.
Frost returns for his seventh season after winning his third consecutive Coach of the Year award in 2016. He returns five all-conference athletes from that roster, led by senior setter
Natasha Evans. Evans, a native of Edna, Texas (Edna H.S.), was named West Division Co-Most Valuable Player a year ago. She also earned ASC All-Volleyball Team and First Team All-West Division honors in her junior campaign. Evans ranked third in the ASC with 8.7 assists last year, adding 95 kills, 334 digs and 73 blocks.

Miranda Klein,
Sarah Paolini and
Haleigh Evans also return after earning all-conference honors last season. Frerich, a junior middle hitter from Brackettville, Texas (Brackett H.S.), joined Evans on the All-ASC team and earned First Team All-West Division. She led the Cru with 142 blocks, adding 266 kills. Klein, a sophomore setter from Georgetown, Texas (East View) was a Second Team All-West Division selection and recorded 198 kills and 140 assists as a freshman. Evans, a sophomore libero from Edna, Texas (Edna H.S.) and Paolini, a sophomore middle hitter from Kalispell, Montana (Stillwater Christian), were Honorable Mention All-ASC selections in 2016. Evans led the Cru with 435 digs while Paolini hit 241 kills on the season.
The Cru will open the tournament with a 2:30 p.m. match against Regis College on Friday, September 1
st before finishing the day with a 6:30 p.m. match against Susquehanna University. UMHB will play two more matches on Saturday, opening against UMass Boston at 12:30 p.m. and ending with Regis College at 2:30 p.m. Continuing coverage of the 2017 season is available at cruathletics.com
