ALPINE, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team swept Sul Ross State University 3-0 Saturday afternoon in Alpine for their second consecutive conference win. The Cru improved to 10-1 on the season with a 2-1 in mark in American Southwest Conference play. The Lobos fell to 2-9 overall and a 0-3 record in league action.
Corinne Novak led the Cru with 11 kills while
Sarah Paolini added nine.
Natasha Evans led all athletes with 36 assists as UMHB hit .439 in the match. Defensively,
Haleigh Evans led the Cru with 17 digs, followed by
Natasha Evans with eight and
Madison Welch with five. UMHB's defensive efforts at the net were led by
Maddie Frerich with three blocks. UMHB totaled 42 kills on 82 total attacks, hitting just six errors in the contest. Sul Ross State ended the match with 23 kills on 90 attacks for a -.022 hitting percentage.
UMHB returns to action on Tuesday, September 19
th in a 6 p.m. match against McMurry University at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
