BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team swept McMurry University 3-0 Tuesday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 11-1 on the season and 3-1 in American Southwest Conference play while the War Hawks fell to 8-3 overall and 1-1 in league play.
UMHB took an early command in the first two sets, beating the War Hawks 25-19, 25-22. McMurry lead in the third set until
Madison Welch hit four consecutive kills to put the Cru up by three. UMHB won that set 25-18 to complete the three-set sweep. Welch led the Cru with 16 kills while
Corinne Novak added 12. UMHB hit .295 in the match with
Natasha Evans recording 40 assists. Defensively,
Haleigh Evans led the Cru with 14 digs followed by Klein with 11 and
Natasha Evans with 10.
Natasha Evans also led the Cru with five blocks assists while
Maddie Frerich and
Sarah Paolini each added four. UMHB totaled 48 kills on 122 attacks with 57 digs and eight team blocks. McMurry ended the match with 32 kills on 109 total attacks for a .138 hitting percentage. The War Hawks added 30 assists, 47 digs and four team blocks.
