BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer used a second-half surge to earn a 4-0 win over University of the Ozarks Thursday evening in Belton. The win improved the Cru to 5-1-1 on the season and 2-0-1 in American Southwest Conference action while the Eagles fell to 4-3 overall and 0-3 in league play.
Neither team generated a scoring offense in the first half, ending the first 45 minutes in a scoreless tie. UMHB opened the second half with an offensive surge, scoring four goals in 13 minutes to earn the 4-0 win.
Caitlyn Shaughnessy opened scoring in the 53
rd minute with a double-assist from
Elissa Freberg and
Jackie Witt.
Sarah Rempe followed that with an unassisted goal in the 54
th minute to put the Cru up 2-0. Freberg added UMHB's third goal in the 57
th minute off an assist from Shaughnessy.
Kennedy Clark closed scoring for the Cru, scoring in the 66
th minute off an assist from
Taylor Marques.
Shaughnessy led the Cru with six shots while Rempe, Freberg and Clark each added four. UMHB totaled 24 shots, putting 14 on goal. Ozarks was limited to just two shots, one each half, with just one shot on goal.
Emmy McMaude earned the win in the goal for UMHB, playing 75 minutes of shutout soccer.
Michaela Register played in relief of McMaude, making one save. Kiara Henry took the loss for the Eagles, making 10 saves in the contest.

rd in a 5 p.m. match against the University of Texas at Tyler.
