Men’s Soccer beats No. 17 UT Tyler 2-0

BELTON, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men's soccer team beats No. 17 UT Tyler Saturday evening in Belton. The Cru improved to 7-1 on the season and 4-0 in American Southwest Conference action while the Patriots fell to 4-2-2 overall and 3-1-0 in league play.
 
A pair of freshman teamed up to score the game-winning goal for UMHB just before halftime. Jose Rodriguez scored off an assist from Johan Cederlund in the 42nd minute to put the Cru up by one. Caleb Vandergriff followed that, scoring three minutes into the second half off a corner kick from Case Carnes to give UMHB a 2-0 lead. UMHB outshot the Patriots 13-4 in the match, putting eight shots on goal. UT Tyler recorded two shots in each half as the Crusader defense did not allow a single shot on goal. Bryce Eichhorn earned the win in the net for UMHB, playing a full 90-minutes. John McGuffin took the loss for the Patriots, making six saves and allowing two goals in 90 minutes.
 
The Cru returns to action on Thursday, September 28th in a 7:30 p.m. match at Louisiana College in Pineville.
