Women's Soccer routs Louisiana College 5-0

PINEVILLE, La. – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team earned a commanding 5-0 win over Louisiana College Thursday evening in Pineville. The win improved the Cru to 7-1-1 on the season and 4-0-1 in American Southwest Conference action. The Wildcats fell to 0-6-2 overall and 0-4-0 in league play.
 
Elissa Freberg scored the game-winning goal in the 19th minute for the Cru before Caitlyn Shaughnessy followed with an insurance goal five minutes later. Kandis Hartdegen was the third Crusader score, punching in a deflected corner kick from Emily Malcom for a 3-0 lead at the half. Louisiana College recorded an own goal in the 58th minute to put the Cru up by four. Madison Link then scored her second goal of the season in the 69th minute, ending the contest at 5-0.
 
Link led the Cru with six shots followed by Shaughnessy and Freberg with four each. UMHB totaled 27 shots, putting 19 on goal. UMHB's defense did not allow a single shot in the contest. Emmy McMaude earned the win in the goal for the Cru, splitting time with sophomore goalkeeper Michaela Register. Haley Clark took the loss for the Wildcats, allowing five goals with 11 saves. Lexi Tate played the final 21 minutes in relief of Clark and made three saves. The Cru took 10 first-half shots and 17 second-half shots, taking 11 corner kicks. The Wildcats were shut out of shots on goal, shots and corner kicks.
 
UMHB returns to action on Saturday, September 30th in an 11 a.m. match at Belhaven University in Jackson, Miss.
